Renee's First Baptism, Waa-hoo !!!

this week has been really good, and there are a lot of things going on. this Saturday was my very first baptism! I think i have probably already told you about it. We baptized a Filipino woman named Irene, who is the sweetest little lady. she bore her testimony at her baptism, how when we first started teaching her, she wasn't really interested, and how her feelings changed, and how she felt when she decided to be baptized. It was so cool to hear her. she is pregnant, and i think the baby is coming next week. the sad part is that she doesn't have a husband, and she has to give the baby away. so i think these next few weeks will be really hard on her. but I'm so happy she got baptized before she had her baby, so that she has all of these things to help her through.
the other person we baptized is a kid named Terrance, he is about twenty two. he is super tall and skinny, and is sooo quiet. he doesn't say hardly anything, but he is just willing to follow all the commandments and come to church, and you can see that he is happier. we want to teach his little brother so he will have someone to come to church with him. he is really cool too.

so. they are the first baptisms. it is so weird to have recent converts to worry about, its kind of exciting! and it is so cool to see them come to church. (although that has only happened once.. its only been one Sunday, ok?)

we haven't seen conference yet, because we don't have a satellite, they are sending them on dvds, so hopefully we can see it next week. (we are teaching a deaf man right now, so hopefully we can get a sign language copy too, that would be so cool)

the next bit of good news.. remember when i went on splits for the very first time, and i was super scared, but it turned out okay? we met these ladies who just showed up for the lesson, and they are awesome! she showed up for the church the very next Sunday, book of Mormon in hand. we were teaching her, and it is so so good to find someone who wants to learn. who is willing to read and pray, those are the lessons that are the best. they live in this ghetto part of town. just a dirt road with trash everywhere, and all of these wood houses super close to one another, most of them up on stilts. to get to her house, we have to climb this huge hill. at night when we leave, there are no lights, and it is like we are in the middle of the jungle. its crazy, (but don't worry, if it is at night, we always bring a boy with us)

i almost forgot! i got the package you sent me yesterday, and let me say, it was awesome, there are no other words to describe it. thank you so much for sending it, and including everything that i had ever asked for! we have already watched Saturday's warrior, and loved every minute of it.
